Microsoft has released the Exchange server subscription edition. This is going to be the end of the Microsoft Exchange Server versions.
Microsoft may continue to provide Exchange Server SE security and regular updates.

- As we know all legacy exchange servers are going out of support on Oct 14, 2025.
- Current Exchange 2019 and 2016 users needs to upgrade the Exchange server to SE version.
- In-Place upgrade is available for the 1st time in the history of Exchange Server.
- Exchange Server SE can be part of Exchange server org with Exchange Server 2019, 2016.
- No License required
- Exchange Server SE CU2 will require to uninstall Exchange 2016 or 2019 servers from the organization.
Additionally, Microsoft has released Skype for Business Server Subscription Edition.
